what differnt size numbers are their for clipper guard.???- whats the highest number for clipper guard and how many inches does it leave?

The clippers that I own:
Wahls-
There are about 8 guards
guards-
1-1/8 is equal to a look of a five o clock shadow close to skin
2- 1/4 is equal to about a little longer than a one is mostly common in styles that you would get it short on the sides and spike the top or just the front or comb it down in the front
3-3/8 a little longet than a two
4- 1/2
5-5/8 this is also considerd finger length of a sisor cut
6-3/4
7-7/8
8- the longest of all the guards and Is one inch long

Most common clipper guards go to an 8. Some go to a 12(I think), but by then, you can do a haircut with scissors and get the same length. Your best bet is to show the stylist a pic of how you want your haircut. I usually tell my clients that a 5 is around finger length(depending on how wide the finger!), anything lower is shorter, anythinghigher gives you more length.

long hair is nice but requires maintenance and u have to grow this out for a long time
