I heard about a group of "concerned citizens" in North Carolina that once campaigned for schools in their state to have Germany and Africa removed from maps, globes, and atlases in their children's classrooms because they deemed these places to be 'anti-Christian', and for the letters of the Greek alphabet to be taken out of algebra class because they believed the symbols promoted homosexuality.
From what little I know about this event that may or may not have happened, it was either in the 1980's or the early 1990's.
If this is true, what is the name of the group in question?

I never heard of that happening. I started school in NC somewhere in that time frame, but I don't remember hearing anything about it. Of course it may have been in a different area, or maybe I was too young to think about it at the time.

I do remember "concerned citizens" fighting to keep prayer in schools. I remember quite well that a kid would get in trouble if he or she wasn't quiet during the blessing before lunch.

It wouldn't surprise me if that did happen with all the racist people here in the south. Its sad to see people hold on to the past and hate whenever they don't even understand it!

Doubtful. I can't find it and anti-Christian groups would love to publicize it. If it did happen, it was a very small scale.
