Not all do that! These hot Jehovah's Witnesses, or LDS or something, always used to come to our apt complex...but they only wanted to set up "appointments" with those who didn't hit on them. What prudes! Could've been a cool 3-way! One to tell your paster about fo sure!

When someone tells me that he's not interested I don't insist. So, don't tell me that a JW came to your door and he didn't want to go though you told him that you don't want to hear him. That would be a lie.

You want to know why we knock on people's door? Here is why:
"And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." - Matthew 24:14

"Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” - Matthew 28:19, 20

"While I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE." - Acts 20:20

So, we dedicate a part of our time to preaching because Jesus told us to do so just as he and the apostles did. In the rest of our time we go to school, work, relax etc. just like any other person on this planet. We don't knock on your door just because we have nothing else to do.

Because some groups -- like the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses REQUIRE their members to go out door-to-door. It is NOT an option. Run to your nearest book store and get books on these two groups and read up on them before the doorbell rings again. Learn their tactics. Most of all, know your faith....not just Scripture; for example, know why your group worships on Sunday and not on Saturday and stuff like that. The JW's will point out why Jesus is not the Son of God and how you can counteract that. KNOW YOUR FAITH.....they will leave very quickly when they realize that!

P.S.....I ALWAYS let them in and share my Catholic faith. Don't let them leave.....keep talking about your faith. Invite them back -- I do. They don't ever accept the invite, though.....but you will have planted a seed.

Pray and ask Christ, its his instructions to do so.

As for having your own religion, I imagine the Jews of the 1st century said the same thing about the Apostles and their followers, so you have good company in that belief. If you want to know what to do about them, contact a Rabbi and ask what history shows was done back then. He could teach you about Saul of Tarsus, a highly educated man in the religious arts, who could prove this new Jewish sect, started by a lower class, uneducated carpenter, and his lower class followers, were a cult, were writing their own Bible, and get going door to door telling thew true believers of God that their rituals, traditions, and holidays, going back hundreds of years, was no longer valid.

They feel it's their mission to convert you to their beliefs. You can scare one of them off, but there will always be others.

I once had one JW stick his foot in the door when I answered it and wouldn't remove it after I asked politely. Well being the gun nut that I am and due to the location I live, I never answer the door without being armed. I told him if he didn't take his foot out of my foot I was going to remove it for him with a 45 caliber bullet. Never saw that JW again.

No they’re great! I always invite them in and take the opportunity to convert them to my ideology. I have successfully converted six of them so far. And I almost converted one last month, that is until he looked around the room and noticed an enormous astrology chart on the wall, and a book shelf full of heretical writings. And the giant pentagram on the ceiling didn’t help much. What can you do?

I've never had a religious fanatic at my door, live and in-person. I did, however, get a Jehovah's Witness phamplet by my door one day. Interesting piece of work, let me tell you.
Want to get them away? Invite them inside and ask if they'd like to join you-- you were just getting the preperations ready to sacrifice your cat to the Sun God.

But seriously, I do agree with you. I have my own faith and, if I wanted to learn about other ones, I'd do it myself. I don't want people knocking down my door trying to convert me to something I don't agree with. To each his own, I guess. And, if you're helpless, the Sun God hasn't failed yet.

Here's what I did and they never showed up. I equipped myself with questions and contradicted all their answers. Then they told me "little knowldege is dangerous brod" and so I replied, "I enjoy the danger more than the knowlege I could hardly contain. More knowledge will make me walk like you going from door to door sharing what I know. With little knowledge, I can stay home because those are mine already and I dont' want to part with it." They never came back since then.

some go overboard, cuz they believe that you should be in church regularly.

some, it's just part of their beliefs.

some are JWs or Mormons and try to convert you at the door. For some (not all) it's just what they believe that they have to do.

come on, you should be glad there are people out there that care enough to try to visit someone they dont know. how do they know that you are content with where you are at, besides there are alot of people that would die for someone to knock on there door and talk to them. we are only human, sure people can get annoying but forget about it, its the thought that counts.
