Flexibility does not come easy. However, everyone, I meant everyone, can gain great flexibility, eg. doing a split, from scratch in two months if they work hard on it.

It takes about 1 hour everyday of rigorous stretching workout.

The most effective technique is assisted PNF stretching. You can find a lot of info of this on the web.

Have fun.

take a pilates class or buy a pilates for beginners dvd. It's really good at helping people to get more flexible. Also you could take a gymnastics class which would be a great help. There are some skills you will need to be a cheerleader that gymnastics will help with. Good luck.

Keeping yourself fit and stretching exercises will help with overall flexibility.
I do Hot Yoga for maximum flexibility.
My mom who's in her 60's does Pilate's and she runs circles around people half her age!

Pilates..it helps elongate your body as well as tone. I love it. I use to do it for 20 mins every morning. Or try yoga. If you are more of a fast pace person pilates incorporates yoga.
