how can i convince my parents to LIKE dogs?

You know, i spent 20 years trying to convince my parents to like dogs so they would allow me to get a dog, it never worked. Now i live with my boyfriend, and i am trying to convince him to let me get a dog. It is very frustrating, i understand. But some people just never want a dog. I don't know what you've tried so far. Show them that you are responsible enough to care for a dog, and also that you can help cover costs of a dog. Do a lot of research, and show them the research you've been doing, so they know you are serious. You can also take them to the animal shelters in your area so they can see the dogs that need homes, and if they don't find homes they will be euthanized (humanely killed). I've tried all of this and more, and nothing worked. They just never wanted a dog. I hope your parents are more open minded than mine.

That is a hard question. How about offering to walk a few dogs in your area and bringing the good ones home to meet the parents? I love dogs so my children never had that problem. Now, my children and grandchildren have dogs. Once they are around the pets, they will not be able to resist. Try borrowing a shites Sui. They are the best pets for people who do not care much for dogs. Once they have that baby around for a few months, they will probably let you get your own dog. Do not ask for pit bulls or any type of controversial dog.

If your parents don't like dogs, then just forget about getting one. When you are old enough to move out, then you can get what you want.
