Do not use any kind of motor oil, burnt or unburnt unless you want to poison your poor dog. Skin exposure to motor oil can cause rashes and skin destruction in severe cases.

The hydrocarbons can be absorbed through the skin and cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. If motor oil is licked off the coat, resultant vomiting can lead to aspiration of motor oil into the lungs and pneumonia. Kidney and liver damage can result from motor oil dipping

Please take your dog to the vet so he or she can determine the type of mange and prescribe the appropriate treatment

OMG... DO NOT USE MOTOR OIL ON THE DOG... this has ingredients in it that is TOXIC to the dog! And can be considered animal cruelty. CONTACT THE VET AND FIND OUT if they have a salve or ointment that you can put on the dog or get the very shampoo they are using for the mange. Something that will accelerate the healing.

Please do NOT use motor oil, it is sooooo dangerous!! There are home remedies that work for mange and it stops the itching with the first bath!
Go to http://earthclinic.com and find the pets/mange section. There are before and after pics of pets treated w/the remedies too! Check it out and it really works, and all the ingredients cost about $5 at Walmart. Feel free to e-mail me and Good Luck!!

yes the burnt motor does work, im not sure about the synthetic stuff but the conventional oil does work. i have used it on several dogs over the years. some people think only the vet has the answer, and if its not from a doctor it wont work. they are wrong , the burnt oil will work, its messy and you will need to clean your dog in about a week.

DO NOT used burnt motor oil on your dog. IT WILL NOT help. I don't know who told you this would work, but it is ridiculous. Take your dog to the vet. It has to be determined what kind of mange he has. He would have demodex which is specific to dogs, or he could have scabies, which can be contagious to humans. Either way, they both need to be treated By a Veterinarian.

Your dog needs a vet.

DO NOT USE MOTOR OIL. Jesus, have you not seen the destruction oil causes animals in an oil leak? Same thing here, except you are INTENTIONALLY poisioning your pet.

If you haven't had your dog to vet how can you even know it is mange to begin with. There are several things that can present as mange, such as ringworm. Only a vet can tell you what your dog has.

If you are to cheap to seek proper veterinary care for your pet, surrender it to a rescue so it can be given the vet care it needs.

If you deny your pet veterinary care, you are commiting animal cruelty and can be punished by law. Intentionally poisoning your pet with motor oil is also animal cruelty.

What scares me is this person has kids, I hope they get proper medical care.

Also scary, this person wants BREED their dogs. I've gotta suprise for you honey, if you can't/won't take your dog to vet now, for something probably inexpensive to treat, what in the hell makes you think you'll bring your female to vet for an emergency c-section. Are you going to be willing to give round the clock care to those pups if the mom can't? What about all the expense that goes with that even if there aren't complications.

NO DOG SHOULD EVER BE BRED BEFORE THE AGE OF TWO YEARS OLD. They are not physically nor mentally mature enough before then. Chances of complications or rejected puppies are also higher.

No dog should be bred without first proving it is of breeding quality, and passing all genetic testing for diseases known to the breed. If you are to cheap to take your dog to vet, you'll be to cheap to perform these necessary things as well. There are to many dogs and cats already awaiting homes in this country. There is no need for you to irresponsibly bring in more.

This is what will likely happen to those pups you want to bring into this world. http://justonelitter.com/litter.html

I urge to spay and neuter your pets, don't add to this problem. And for the love of god, get your pets some veterinary care PLEASE.

I have heard the same "remedy" However, it seems a bit messy and dangerous. The premise of HOW it works is that it basically suffocates the mites, by covering them completely- thus killing them.
You also need to check with a vet because I highly doubt you are certain about what KIND of mange your dog is dealing with. My dogs both had sarcoptic mange and you treat it with drops similar to frontline. Please please go to the vet.

Take your dog to the vet. The motor oil will NOT work and it can cause severe damage to the dog. The only way that you can safely cure mange is with treatment from a veterinarian.

Yeah, here is a suggestion.....SEE A VET!!!! You need to get a CORRECT diagnosis FIRST and then a treatment.
Would you cover yourself with motor oil????? People have been arrested for animals cruelty for putting motor oil on their pets as a treatment. And then also charged with NEGLECT for not getting medical treatment.
Either be a RESPONSIBLE owner, or re-home the dog.
