If you actually feel like learning about what an LSD trip looks like, I can recommend some movies you could watch (or watch part of).

Waking Life is a very good example of what an LSD trip is like, it hits the nail on the head not only in looks, but feel and content. It was a regular color film that has been drawn over by animators.

The movie Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas does a very good job of conveying the feel of a good LSD trip. Disregard the specific drugs they're doing in the movie, or when they're on them, the whole movie from start to finish is similar to what it's like to be on LSD.

The Simpsons episode titled "The Mysterious Voyage of Homer" is much like an LSD trip. Homer eats some Guatamelan Insanity Peppers at a chili eating contest and ends up going on a psychedelic spirit quest.

A Scanner Darkly - I haven't seen this one yet, but from having read Philip K. Dick novels, and the fact that this film had animators draw over the actual film like in Waking Life, I imagine it's at least got aspects that are reminiscent of taking LSD.

SLC Punk is a great film with a lot of scenes about LSD. When the main character trips, his experiences are portrayed realistically.

You can also look into the concept of visualization of fractals. A lot of LSD's visual effects are formed from and look like shifting fractals blended into the actual scene you're looking at with your eyes. Download the free screensaver Electric Sheep to watch fractals in action. http://www.electricsheep.org/

It's a subjective experience that's damn near impossible to relate to someone who's never tried it.

Heres an optical illusion that tries to recreate the visuals of a trip:

I didn't try this one but I've tried others and its a pretty good imitation. What you feel on a trip is basically your regular emotions amplified. If you're in a good mood or state of mind when you take it, you'll have feelings of euphoria. A bad mood will amplify those feelings as well. It is possible to run the whole range of emotions from love to hate, fear and paranoia to happiness and blissfulness, in one trip. You direct where the trip goes and if you have lousy self-control than it can start to lead you (thus the tons of bad trip experiences).

Other than that, you'd have to try it yourself to fully understand the effects.

This is a very deep question with to many variables involved. No one person has the same experience. Some people have strong visuals and for some it is more emotional. Some people just have a good time and some take it very seriously to the point of seeing or experiencing "GOD" Your best bet is to sit down with positive individuals who are experienced "trippers" and talk to them.
