There's a German foreign exchange student that I want to ask out and didn't know if they were required to focus soley on school and not develop any romantic relationships or anything (I think I read that on wikipedia). And when I think back to some of the other exchange students that went to our school I can't remeber any of them dating anyone either so...

We had a foreign exchange student my senior year and he dated. I don't think there would be anything wrong with asking her out.

Is she on a high school exchange program? Some programs don't encourage dating but.... it's not something which would get her sent home, don't worry! It's really nothing more than a guideline and I can tell you that plenty of exchange students date whilst on exchange.

It may be their personal decision not to date. They are not mandated either way. Most foreign students have scholarships and these scholarships may require that a certain GPA be maintained in order for them to continue. This may be one of the reasons that foreign students focus on their studies and don't want to be distracted by having romantic relationships.

i was an exchange student 4 years ago. Yes you are allowed to date but that also depends on your host family.....some are very mean and they wouldnt let the student go out at all.

My friend has exchange students that live with her, and they all have boyfriends(who are also exchange students I believe but I don't think it matters). So I'm pretty sure you're allowed.

yeah they are allowed to date german girls are nice and easy to talk to so just talk to her the reason you don't see much of them dating anybody because we do things here diffrent and some might think americans are just wanting to sleep with them so you have to prove to her your not that guy to ruin her life so just get to know her and be willing to listen also study up on what they do in germany and then you have something in common that will help you alot she also be amazed that you know something about her country so good luck man let me know how that went

they are, our exchange student from germany back in HS dated guys in our school but thats like 4 years ago...times might have changed since then lol i dunno.
