It's also important to note the appearance of the blood in your stool. As I understand it (I'm a dentist, not a gastroenterologist), blood that is in "streaks" is indicative of a bleed closer to the anus.

I don't mean to be blunt, but you may want to ask this 15 year-old girl about any possible sexual activities.

It could mean bowel was too large to pass easily. I've had that happen. If not, sounds like a doctor is needed.

any blood in bowel movements should be checked out. check is done for occult blood. Test is done on passed faeces. (Has she been using laxatives for diet purposes?)She may have irritable bowel syndrome or any of the others mentioned.

uh, probably not anything good. Try www.webmd.com and try this site http://www.colonbowelproblems.com/blood-in-bowel-movement.html, it could be IBS too

if you don't want to go to a doctor, as least call a nurse's hot line and see what they say - they are medically trained- and most hospitals have one - try one in your area, its free.

Blood in stool can be due to be hemorrhoids, anal fissures, polyps, Crohn's Disease, peptic ulcer disease, and diverticulitis. Generally, the closer the bleeding site is to the anus, the blood will be a brighter red. Thus, bleeding from the anus, rectum, and the sigmoid colon tend to be bright red, whereas bleeding from the transverse colon and the right colon (transverse and right colon are several feet away from the anus) tend to be dark red or maroon colored. Stomach ulcers caused by ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin are common causes of upper GI bleeding. It could be something as simple as hemorrhoids but I would see your doctor for an evaluation.
