We both took the same ride to the airport from college together so we could split the cost and it would be cheaper but she didn't have any cash and said she would pay me back when we got back to school. She mentioned it at school but hasn't since and we have been back for a month now. Thanks

A simple reminder in private should work.
Something along the lines of: "Do you have the $4.30 that your half of the cab fare came to? Or do you just want to get the full price next time?"
The general rule is not to loan money to friends-- not everyone is good about repaying you. I've loaned three different friends money to help them with travel expenses. I only had one person repay me and that was because I loaned him too much to just lose. I eventually got my money back but we were no longer friends after that.

Next time you see her just come right out with it..."Hey, you owe me some money, where is it?!" If she makes excuses, tell her that you would like some kind of down payment, you don't like being taken advantage of. It's not polite to pay your friends back...therefore you have every right to ask where your money is...since it's been like a month!

I'd say "Remember how I loaned you money when you needed it? Well, I'm at a point now where I need money and I would really appreciate it if you could pay me back soon."

Remind her of the deal that was made and add that your finances are in a big squeeze right now. It would help if she could pay you something on the earlier arrangement.

Tell her politely but firmly that you need the money and some of it right now would be good.

Just ask her straightforward like. If she doesn't understand it in that way than she must not be that good of a friend.

E-mail her. Say........hi so and so, just a gentle reminder about my loan to you. Can I have it today or tomorrow?
