Are we just empodied computers , overvaluing our senses?

That is an excellent question. It suggests that we are more than just a physical body. The totality of our being is body, soul, and spirit. That part of us that is most who we are is not physical.

Our consciousness comes from the brain, which has become something that is greater than its individual parts. The brain is the source of knowledge (comes from memories and learning) and caring is an emotion, likely partially coming from hormones (I'm not an authority, so the last is more an educated guess than any real knowledge about the subject).

There is generally an evolutionary advantage to be gained for an organism to add memory and information processing. Humans have evolved to the point that our memory and information processing capacity far outweighs any other biological advantages that we have. And in fact, most "evolution" is now occurring in memory and information processing technologies that we are developing.

Our body is the biological medium through which we communicate with the physical world. Our 'knowing' and 'caring' comes from our spirits.
