As a Russian I would say Stolichnaya served chilled. Put the vodka in the freezer as well as the shot glasses. Wait for 24 hours and then serve. It goes down smooth when it is that cold and does not have a kick to it. After you drank your 100 grams bite into a pickle or a lemon. It is like a party in your mouth.
Grey Goose is good because it is delicate vodka, but it is for sissys. Who wants a delicate vodka. If you drink vodka then vodka has to be vodka.
Smirnoff is also good but it is a mean vodka. It burns through and has a longer after taste.
Popov's is cheap crap and I would not drink it at all.

In international tasting competitions, Grey Goose has been a favorite of connoisseurs around the world. What is very surprising is that it isn't even Russian, it's French! My personal favorite is still Stolichnaya, it's less expensive, the bottle looks shitty but Russians friends have told me that served cold and crisp, it is one of the better vodkas around. Who knows better about Vodka than Russians? Both brands are easily found in the USA

Try to find Svedka. It is cheap and as good as Grey Goose.
Very, very smooth. My sister swears by it. She only likes really good vodka. 3 Olives is good, too ......and reasonably priced.
