Should you run until it hurts or set a goal and obtain it every day?

I started with a good Couch to 5K program. I was really in worse shape than I thought when I started. I'm now training up to a 10K. The idea is to do intensity intervals, adding distance and speed gradually.

(Both sites have programs - both are free, but the one requires registration to view articles.)
