I think it wouldnt be that easy. Since we are bordered by the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean.

anyone can certainly try but the outcome would be absolutely horrid. Imagine trying to invade such a large country, one who spends more on their military annually than any other country in the world, lets not forget the weapons we harbor and all the allies we have. Yes that's right I said allies, even though people will tell you that the world hates us, we have quite a few allies, that doesn't mean they have to like us. And don't let the fool lie to you about china, yes our debt to them is huge, however it would not be in their best interest to call in the debt all at once, If our economy is crippled they are hurt as well. It would not be someone like china to try and invade, they are not a stupid country, I'm not sure any country is stupid enough to try an invasion.

FIRST America has been invaded before..... and we repulsed / killed the invaders SECOND America has over 300 M people and over 400 M guns..... we do not like our own government very much; we certainly would not tolerate a foreign ruler..... THIRD The local police can not control our own street gangs even with citizen help.....the jails in California are at 200% capacity...... think of the chaos that would ensue if EVERY CITIZEN were against the authorities The invasion and subjugation of the American people would be impossible no matter how many troops the enemy sent.....

It would be extremely difficult for an army to invade the USA. And if an army did land somewhere, think about the difficulties it would have to endure--supply lines, etc. But the real reason I think it would be difficult to accomplish is this: think of our civilian population. Many Americans have a GUN, many have more than one, and those that don't have one now would have easy access to one if the threat occurred. If by some chance our military could not repel an invasion, there is no doubt in my mind the civilian population would take care of any hostile invading force.

An invasion of the U.S. wouldn't likely be from a "conquering" power, but from a desperately overpopulated, undereducated and unstable backwater nation.
If Russia, for example, attempted to invade us, we'd recognize the threat and unleash awful things on them, like:
1) Lawyers (1,000 a day)
2) Lawyers with parachutes
3) Politicians (1,000,000,000,000 a day)
4) Parachutes for above politicians
5) Mail-order spouses from nations to our south
However, if a backwater did, in fact, try to take over the country, they'd find themselves in rapturous celebration that they'd seemingly succeeded.
But, sadly, as the world economy and all its realities bore down upon us all, those "invaders" with their minuscule education and knowledge, would once again become the pittance laborers of the new economy.
Word to the wise: Get your PhD! Else...remain as slaves, poised eternally on the verge of revolt...

Yes! Totally possible. Probable? Maybe!
The freedoms granted by our constitution makes a takeover possible, but there are other checks and balances.
Me thinks it would be very difficult for such a thing to happen!
Possible - Yup! Likely - Nope!
Mexico is doing it's best, me thinks!

technically, yes it would be possible for a country to invade the united states, not that they would wanna go against 50,000 nukes, but yes, it would possible. It is not happening right now, the answerer above has been misled.

Sure, china we owe so much money to them that no matter what Bush says about us reducing the debt its nothing , but a lie. we can get invaded by China if they wanted to. Just like we robbed or stripped Mexico of their land we can get ours stripped for the same reason debt.
