How much more does it cost to have contact lenses instead of glasses? I'm 13 and I might need glasses but I don't like glasses. Will it cost my parents more and by how much? Is there anything else I need to know before?

It depends on where you get your contacts. It will cost more due to the fact that they will need you to do an exam and fitting for contacts. Your prescription for contacts and for glasses are different. Remember too, that some people can not wear them and your eyes may bother you the first time you put them on

If you end up needing vision correction, you will need glasses no matter what, even if you do decide to go with contacts. During the first week of wearing contacts you can't wear them all day because your eyes need to get used to them. Also, if you happen to run out of contacts or you happen to get an eye infection (which isn't uncommon with contact lens wearers), you will need glasses until you can get more contacts or until the infection goes away. There's some really cool looking glasses available, and you'll be surprised at what you find if you have someone who works at the optical help you pick something out. He or she is trained to have an idea of shapes and colors that look good on different faces. I know I absolutely love my glasses, and I get comments on them all the time from strangers!

simply put that will have to be told to you by the doctors office because you don't know what kind of contacts you will be getting. I can tell you they charge a fitting fee and it is high. It is a one time cost that you only pay the first time unless you change the type of contact you use. then you pay again.

There are many type of contact lenses. Disposal type like daily disposal, weekly disposal, monthly disposal and conventional type. Check http://www.lenscompare.com to compare price.

Besides contact lenses, you need to buy solution to store contact lenses when you don't wear them at night. You may not need solution if you buy daily disposal contact lenses or the pair can be worn day and night.
