My car was rear-ended, and as of now it seems to be my fault. I do have comprehensive coverage, like collision and all that, with $500 deductible. I filed a claim today and they scheduled me for an appraisal. So my question is should I trust them with repairing my car? or should I find a repair shop myself? Is it better for me to find a different place to estimate the repair again? This is my first accident, really have no idea what to do...
My insurance is with Liberty Mutual.

Insurance companies don't fix cars...they pay for the repairs. You are free to choose the shop of your choice.

Keep in mind, the insurance company's ONLY obligation is to YOU, it's not to the repair shop. The insurance company will only pay reasonable rates for labor, pull times, paint times, etc....
If the shop doesn't agree to do the work for what the insurance company will pay, YOU may be stuck for the difference.

To avoid this, ask Liberty Mutual for shops they are "networked" with and whose repairs they (Liberty Mutual) will guarantee.

Ok.. clearly these other people dont know much about what they are talking about.

Liberty Mutual must have "preferred shops" as most companies do.... what these shops are are ones that have worked with the company in the past.. and have an agreement with the insurance company.. and usually you get a guarantee on your repairs.

Regardless of who does your repairs they will be going off your insurance companies estimate and not their own.. so i always suggest you go ahead through their repair shop that way your repairs will be guaranteed.

99% of the time when you are rear ended, unless you backed into the other car, it isn't your fault and their insurance will cover your damages.

Insurance companies don't repair cars, body shops repair cars. Insurance companies take care of the financial loss. File with your insurance and let them tell you what you need to do. Pick a body shop you are happy with and get an estimate, tell your insurance what the cost is, hopefully they will collect that amount for you from the person at fault, and you can get your car fixed.

Liberty Mutual doesn't repair cars. They estimate damages, pay for the damages based off their estimate, and then you get the vehicle fixed. You can get it fixed wherever you want, but they will only pay the amount of their estimate.
