It is possible. My wife and I are both full time students, with two children. States usually do not award food stamps to adults, just to children. However, you would have to talk to someone in your state's offices to make sure.

If they do award to adults, they will take into account your household size (how many people live in your home,) income from any jobs, and expenses you pay for.

They will want to know how you pay your rent working part time, with no other assistance.

They shoud not take Title 4 awards (student loans, grants, etc.) into account when they figure out your financial status.

They will count household income..yours and your mothers. You can tell them you are preparing and buying meals seperate from your mom but you would actually get more if you count her on number in household and income. Just because you are a student doesn't mean you qualify because they go by expenses you owe.

Visit your local public aid office. They will be able to tell you for certain.
