I am getting a new vehicle and I want it to last me many years. I now live in Wyoming, but when I graduate I am either moving back to Colorado or Texas. I am deciding between a Jeep or a Chevy Truck. Which would you suggest and why? And Do you have a perfered type of Jeep or Chevy? I like to go off roading but its not a nessessity. I am just really stuck in the middle of which one I want it is not going to be for any specific purpose like towing things around or anything mainly I just want a vehicle that can get me around and last a long time. Any suggestions?

I watch my friend off-road and he drives an Ford F-150. He gets through things that Chevrolets and Dodges get stuck in. The new Chevy Silverado does look pretty nice so I recommend that over a Jeep.

(Texas is Ford country)

The Jeep Wrangler is the only one that is really good off-road, but it weak every where else. It's not a very practical vehicle.

If you want longevity and dependability avoid both the vehicles you mentioned. I currently own a Chevrolet blazer. It is typical of most all American made cars I have owned-- borderline junk and mechanically unreliable. My last few cars and my wife's new car were Japanese. 1982 nissan 250,000 miles only had minor repairs;1982 datsun pick up Truck 512,000 miles when I retired and sold it; 1996 Honda accord 250,000 miles. I sold it just because it was 10 years old, it still was a good car. I have bought my last American made car. So sad, If only they would make a reliable car in this country I would gladly give it preference to all import cars.
