What conditions are neccessary for Christians and Atheists to get along in Yahoo Answers Religion Section?

The Christians need to learn about Atheism and evolution so we don't spend all day every day explaining why there are still monkeys.

The Atheists need to practice respect for faith-based beliefs.

Neither will happen. Christians won't stay Christians if they get educated, and how can one respect beliefs that have absolutely no basis in reality?

I guess the bottom line is that Christians should become educated on evolution and on Christianity in general.

You're asking why people with religious differences don't get along. My friend, they never have and they never will. How many wars have been fought over this same issue? As Christians, we should know to love our fellow man regardless of their beliefs. You can't whip someone into believing. If someone is ready, they will look for the information without us being overly assertive. We should open the door and if they choose to go thrugh it, it will be their choice. In the meantime, understand that others will believe what they choose no matter how we feel about it. If they choose to attack us, it is only words for now. Just don't be the one doing the attacking. We are Christians and we don't do that. Although I'm always up for a good debate.

Jim Darwin of the Gap: I have seen some of your other answers in days before and some of your questions. You totally crack me up most of the time! Today, you are on a serious theme! Tolerance is the word for the day, I hope. If more religions, or non religions would be tolerant of other people and not try to force every one to believe what they do, we could get along and maybe start on the road to "world peace". I am a believer and I saw an answer from a person who says they speak the truth in love, so it's ok. The speak the truth in love issue is for people of the same beliefs. I am a Bible believer and I am strong in my convictions and will take EVERY opportunity to try to sway others to believe. There is a fine line, but distinctive, that can be crossed. You can say the truth without bashing others. Yes, Jesus called the religious people of his day a generation of Vipers, but he also healed ALL that came to him. When we, as believers, can heal all that come to us, then we can do the tough love thing. For now, keep the tough love for the other believers who stray! One day of people getting along in this forum just may lead to another. Do any of us dare to hope!? Oh, if I have offended non believers in the past, please excuse my ignorance and accept my apology. Thank You.

Jim, you da man, but I gotta say, this question is silly.

We all know this section is a guilty pleasure. Nobody is ever going to convince anyone to abandon or adopt religion. At best we get to sharpen our debating skills, irritate a few people, and witness an occasional spectacle of ignorance or arrogance.

Then there is the sheer humor of The What Should I Do Retard, and others like him.

All-in-all, not getting along is what makes this place work!

L O V E & A C C E P T A N C E

The love of God for Christians.
The Love for their fellowman for Atheists.

Christians do not always show love here, I am sure some have even taken what I have posted as rude or mean, though I never intended it that way. I just say things wrong sometimes.

In my humble opinion the most stupid question is the one left unasked, so I ask questions to learn about others. To see what reactions I get to certain things, and answers I get to my questions in general. Sometimes I ask questions on a whim and shouldn't though.

I sincerely APOLOGIZE if I have hurt anyone here be they, Anteists, Muslims, Christians, or other. As a follower of Christ I could not claim myself so, if I was not sorry for hurting people even when it was unintentional.

Atheists are people too, they are our fellowman. If you are angry at them or if you have a problem with their being as they are, remember Jesus loves everyone. He is even married to the backslider the Bible says. So we need to STOP all the fighting and have civilized debates that are not on a child's level in here. We need to respect Atheists, even if we do not respect their beliefs.

If we continually argue in nasty ways towards others, HOW are they to see Christ through us ??? Are we not to lead by EXAMPLE, and not mere words alone? Words are EMPTY without ACTION. And we sin when we REACT to others in such a negative and worldly way. I am actually hurt that someone would want to marr the name of Christ and Christians, and or, followers of God, by displaying such horrible posts as some do.

May you ALL be blessed, and let it hereby be known to ALL that I love everyone equally. I do not place anyone above another. When I say that I love everyone here I mean it too, I also believe that if you do not have the capacity to love everyone in some way or another ... you cannot be of God.

A desire for understanding that is mostly lacking here.

A willingness to actually learn from each other, or at least exchange ideas politely and respectfully, rather than simply sling insults or set up straw-man arguments.
I have no problem with dialogue between Christians, atheists, agnostics (like myself), Wiccans, and others on this forum; in fact, I thought that's why this forum existed.
Cheers for asking the question, although I'm unsure about your motives... you do seem to hit on the Christian girls an awful lot...

I think asking questions that dont come across as attacks would help a lot. Of course then I wouldnt get to laugh at questions directed at "false prophets" or "those who believe false doctrine". Seriously, dont ask questions that are only meant to bait people. This goes for either side. We can discuss, laugh, feel empathy, without being ugly.

Ok, to tell the truth, all I REALLY want is for everyone to like me!

What circumstances would be necessary for christians to get along with anyone, of any religion? Since everyone except christians are going to fire lake.

I think just respect really. I dont mind any question by anyone about anything but I cant get along with someone who insists on calling me an idiot, insane or worse... neither can anyone. So, if everyone just stops the name calling, it would be a much nicer place.

Well, this is an open community, so I don't think it's gonna happen. And frankly, I don't really care if it happens. Meat space is totally dominated by the judeo-christian frame and I am glad to come here where it is a bit of a free-for-all.
