What you have is combonation skin. This is actually very common. More than 80% of people have it.
What this means is that part of your face is dry and part is oily. Most people find that the "T" zone (forehead, nose and chin are the oily parts.) Some people even have oily cheeks.
I have oily combonation skin with Scoriasis and sensitive skin, which makes it very difficult to find anything that works well.
As one of the people who answered you said, you need to find what works well for you. The only way to do that is to try different things.
I have been trying new things for about 25 years and have found several things that have worked well for me over the years.
I used Avon's purple facial mask with that new acne stuff that came out in the early nineties. This cleared up my acne, but irritated my sensitive skin.
I used Mary Kay's facial mask, green, scared the hell out of my husband and kids, but it did work very well, also.
Since then I've tried different soaps and have found that any soap with a perume, cologne or any kind of scent irritated my skin.
I found that Nutregena soap is an excellent soap because it is not as harsh as Ivory, since Ivory is pure soap it is known to irritate dry and sensitive skin because it dries it out even more, and isn't as soft as natural glycerine soaps, which do not clean all the dirt off your face. They are too pure, not enough of what you need to clean.
I also use an apricot facial scrub made by St. Ives. I've used other brand names as well and there is nothing wrong with them, they work very well, also.
What I did find that works so well it left me wishing I had the money for it all the time is those new fangled Microdermabrasion that you do at home. They are AWESOME!!! It is definitely worth the money. It not only cleans all the gunk off your face, but it leaves your face feeling soft. You do not get the left over oily feeling even after you scrubbed your little heart out.
This does take several days to accomplish. For me it was 4 days. If I had the money, it would definitely be my first choice above soap and water or anything else.
One more thing, DONOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE PURE RUBBING ALCOHOL ON YOUR FACE!! This stings and will only make matters alot worse!! Take it from someone who knows from experience.
Oh yea, another thing, natural remedies like lemon juice or eggs are BULL!! They DONOT work!! They only succeed in irritating your skin and causing you to break out more than you already do.
The pimples you get will be the ugliest thing you have ever seen in your life!!

I have just started using AminoGenesis skincare. The cleanser is called Really, Really Clean and it moisturizes as it cleans, without making the skin dry or oily. It's not too expensive and can be ordered online (I would recommend doing a search to find the best deal on the web).

Cetaphil is highly recommended by dermatologists. There is a lotiony type (the "gentle skin cleanser") and the kind for oily skin that is in a pump. That one is a clear gel. If your skin is mostly dry, I would go for the "gentle skin cleanser." You can buy Cetaphil at any drugstore or Target. I use the oily skin kind, but sometimes use the gentle skin cleanser. Neither one makes my face break out, and it leaves your face clear for your other acne medications that you might use.

I have use many facial cleanser before, my skin is combination skin (t-zone), these are the one that I find it good
- Shiseido - Skincare Purifying Cleansing Foam
(there is packing of 3 - Cleaner,Toner & Moisturizer: about S$60)
- NuSkin - 180*range (S$75), rich in victamin C
- "Papaya" soap - S$3, can be found in those malay "beauty" shop, also rich in victamin C, and the whitening effect is very fast.
Those "cheap" washing form will make you feel clean, but after long team useage, the surface skin will be very dry, the inner layer skin which is still oily, this will couse more problem to skin in long run.
Also try not to use "scrub", long term use will make your skin very sensitive, if want to use, please use only once a week will do.
My Shiseido Cleanser can last me about 6mth per bottle, so it is worth to invest in a good one.

I use neutrogena oil free acne wash. Anything by neutrogena is great. But you want to use something made for sensitive skin. It will lessen the chance of you getting dry skin and will take care of the oil.

Spaz,
Did you know Nicole Miller, NY fashion designer teamed up with a wellness company and has a line of personal products that are awsome!! I use the cleaners and lotions and it works great. I had a Mary Kay lady tell me she has even tried proactive and this stuff beats it all!!

Are you broken out or is your skin just combination? Try Dermalogica. If you go on their website it will list professionals in your area that carry it and they can recommend what type of cleanser once they look at your skin. A little bit goes a long way so an 8oz bottle will last many months and give you great results. It's worth it. Good luck!

I've been using Dove soap for years (followed by moisturizer, of course!) and people have always told me I look about 10 years younger than I am (I'm 45).
If you have acne, don't scrub your face - be gentle with it. Scrubbing will only make the acne worse.
