What is used to texture the steel flight deck?

Although the flight deck is made of heavy plate steel and heavily reinforced with framework below, it is coated with a heavy paint which contains granules. I'm not sure what the correct name of the coating is, but we called it "non skid" because it helps you to maintain traction during all weather conditions, even with a light coating of petroleum products like fuel, oil, or hydraulic fluids. We call it Non-Skid. It helps the flight deck crew to keep traction and not slip in bad weather or when fuel and oil is on the deck.

I remember playing football during one of our few flight deck BBQ days and falling. Talk about road rash......

non-skid....husbands on an air craft carry, and while there in port there laying new non-skid on the flight deck
