i'm very slender in my mid-section, but i'm having problems with my thighs and buttocks area. do you guys have any suggestions for some lower body workouts so i can get rid of the extra weight?

SQUATS!! lol i did them in the shower; while i was cooking; anytime i was just standing around i did them. i had that same problem; i am pretty decent upper body; and my legs, thighs and hips mainley were huge! so i would do between 20 and 60 a day and with in a week i was noticing a big difference!! if you rotate your toes outward you will work on your inner thigh; it's easy, its free and it works. best deal all around if you ask me.

Definitely run. If you're just starting out, walk for 5 mins. then run or jog for 1 min. then repeat that several times. Also if you have cable tv, look for the channel "Fit TV" because in the mornings & on weekend mornings, they have all sorts of workout programs ranging from yoga, belly dancing, pilates (on the mat) & aerobics. The absolute best program is called "Total body sculpt" with Gilad, trust me, you will feel it the very next day. But if you don't have cable then try the walk/run option & get yourself a jump rope as well, these are such inexpensive ways to get your lower body in shape, of course you should eat healthy (not diet) but eat fruits, veggies, whole grains/multi-grains, chicken, lean meats & fish. Put on the music and Dance!! This is the best exercise that you will probabaly stick to because its also the most fun!! watch the chubs just melt away!!

walking walking and walking is the best way to slim down your legs. I have had that problem for years and all I do now is walk every 2nd day and i have notice that my thighs have started to slim down and my bum is looking heaps better.
So get out and WALK
