would be singing like a jailbird~
but if and only if I knew he could not trace the information back to me.
For example....if I knew someone shot and killed someone I would NOT tell if I was the only person that the murderer shared this information with.
If he robbed a bank and there was a camera taking pictures and all I needed to do was to add a name to the face,, I would tell and get paid.
Might even put some money on the criminals books since he was responsible for the windfall

If I knew someone had broken the law, money or not, I would tell. Money should not be the issue. The breaking of law is the issue. If a person breaks the law & gets away with it, they are likely to do it again. I wouldn't want to be the one that could have stopped him/her & did nothing.

Its called having principles and values. I hope I do. If there was money for me involved or someone going to prison, I would tell the truth. I would not want anyone to suffer just because I didn't tell the truth.

If they broke the law I would tell, unless maybe it was a small kind of crime and they did it under desperate circumstances. For example if a mom couldn't feed her kid so she stole a loaf of bread, I wouldn't turn her in. If the person who would go to jail is some drug dealing, murdering scum, then I would turn them in. The money would be a bonus.

Your question is unclear. Is the person that would go to jail guilty? If revealing what I knew would send a guilty person to jail AND put money in my pocket, who wouldn't tell?

I wasn't raised that way...I didn't raise my children that way either.
If I saw someone, a stranger, shoot someone down in cold blood for no reason--and I was questioned--I might say that I saw it happen (My vision is not great, so I could not make an identification anyway--or give other details)
Money, though I could use some, would not be part of my decision.

If the person wasn't family or a close friend then money is more important then some person breaking the law.
