I think you mean CAPITAL PUNISHMENT - it's still on the law books in Trinidad, hasn't happened since Dole Chadee and his gang were hung...who are we to judge a man and kill him? I didn't realise that I would have been so incensed when Saddam was hung - I thought it to be inhumane treatment. Two wrongs doesn't make anything right.

Given the increasing crime rates, bring back the hangings. The court system is far from the best in Trinidad and without some major changes in place regarding the time one awaits for trials, I don't think the hangings will do much good. While I believe in the death penalty, it's useless if a judge has to let someone go free because evidence was lost or tampered with in the 2 yrs they were waiting to stand trial. Or if witnesses have since changed their minds, died, or can no longer recall the events. I think the wrong crimes get harsher penalties (ie. a woman getting life for killing her rapist husband who is trying to kill her) vs those towards the ones hurting the victims.

The crime situation here is really disgusting! We do use corporal punishment here but rarely (we have a full death row)

The last hangings were 12 men The Dole Chadee issue - I am of two minds about the hanging issue; however criminals now have no conscious at all. So if we are sure they are 100% guilty by all means hang them or better yet lethal injections!!!!! It will send a message to criminal and they will think twice before the act.

Yes, its the only way. People might think twice before commiting the extreme crimes that they do, that are deserved of this type of punishment.
