God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord, we don't need You anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the 'beginning'."

"Oh, is that so? Tell me..." replies God.

"Well," says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of You and breathe life into it, thus creating man."

"Well, that's interesting. Show me."

So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.

"Oh no, no, no. . ." interrupts God,

"Use your own dirt."

Good point. Then when the scientists creates his own dirt, there is still the problem of creating a soul and spirit. The body part is easily stolen from God's divine blueprint...but the other 2 parts of the whole man is a little bit trickier.

I reacted by laughing a little and then thinking that it was not a very funny joke. More preachy than funny, really.

But it was better than a knock knock joke (except the one about the interrupting cow MOOO)

I think it's pathetic - it shows the delusions some Christians have about science. Too many of them reject science because they think it's trying to replace God or make God obsolete. Unfunny jokes like this only reinforce that delusion.

I'd say that's awfully silly. Why would a scientist want to make god?

Is this supposed to be a joke? Sounds like it has a punch line.....not a funny one. Why waste five points on this question?

Ha ha, I like it.

To other answerers, how is that 'preachy', as many of you seem to think? Just don't read it!

I suppose you think I sound too preachy, as well?

Oops, you already read what I wrote!

I admire your courage to bring Christian humor into this place even though I've heard that joke a dozen times in the past month.
Bless you.
