I signed up for the MN Army National Guard and I feel kind of stupid because I thought this job was local. The recruiter didn't explain it to me like he should've and now I hope I'm not stuck.

I HAVE SEEN SOME PRETTY DUMB ANSWERS. THE REASON WHY I WANT OUT IS BECAUSE I GOT 3 KIDS AND DON'T WANT THEM TO BE WITHOUT A MOTHER. I'M NOT PATHETIC AND I'M NOT SAD I'M JUST LOOKING TO BE THERE FOR MY KIDS.

You are not necessarily "stuck". It depends on a few things:
1) Did you sign yet?
2) Did you sign a Delayed Entry Program (DEP) contract? if you signed a DEP contract, that is not very binding and easy to get out of.
The best thing to do is go talk to your recruiter. Most are not trying to trap you into anything and will help you with your concerns/questions. He may even be able to help you "get out".
You're not going to Leavenworth.

There is no Delayed entry in the NG, once you sign, you are in, drilling and making money. If your recruiter put you in a unit more than 100 miles away from where you live, you can ask for a hardship transfer and get to a unit closer to home. Your recruiter was an idiot if he didnt tell you the unit was farther away.

Look why you joined to begin with and re focus on those issues. service to country, skill training, serve your community, egtting college paid for, bonuses.

Talk to your RSP Sergeant and he should be able to help you out.

If you haven't done your final swear in yet then no you are not stuck. Even if you have which apparently you haven't because you are on the internet then you could always get on on a chapter called failure to adapt. Just do everything as bad as you possibly can and cry alot and not be able to do your work and more than likely you will get out of it. Good luck. I was in the Army for 3 years plus I married an Army man so yeah it's harder than you think.

As long as you haven't signed the contract you can back out. Personally I never could understand why someone would want to go just into the NG or Reserves. All the hassle and basic training just to do that? Whatever, I guess people view it differently.

Don't get out. It will be the best experience of your life. The experience and knowledge you will gain will benefit you for the rest of your life. Be proud like all the other Army women who are in Iraq serving their country. Private Lynch is very proud to have 2 purple hearts and a Bronze Star. She may be the most decorated woman of the Iraq War.

Oh yes, you're stuck! Leavenworth is hot in the summer and cold in the winter, as is much of the US. You can avoid all that by letting your word be your bond. Happy basic training!

As long a you haven't gone through MEPS and sworn in you are not actually in. refuse to swear in. Though I think you should probably think about choosing an MOS that drills closer to where you live instead.
