you should tell them. " Hey I think I should be tested for adhd I find it difficult to pay attention to things and learn"

I think 90% of those diagnosed with adhd don't have it and should be medicated. It's a huge industry. I have met countless people diagnosed with adhd and only one true sufferer out of all of them who obviously had it. He couldn't stand still he seemed just like a tweeker

ADHD doesn't exist. You're either ADD or not. Most people diagnosed with ADD and ADHD don't really have it. It is a huge scam but, there are some people with it. Get tested and look at everything they say carefully and scrutinize it and make a decision with yourself. Most people think they have ADD, if most think they have something then that thing is normal, this means that only a few people who say they have things really have things. Everyone has ADD to an extent, except then it isn't called ADD.

There's nothing wrong with having ADHD. My brother had it, my mother has it, my grandfather and great-grandmother had it and now my eldest daughter has it. Your parents should not be concerned. The milder cases can be corrected with a stricter schedule and a little more structure, heavier cases might need medication but still nothing that can't be managed. What they might like to know is that people who have ADHD have exceptionally high IQs and tend to be better thinkers than the average person. It is suspected that Benjamin Franklin had ADHD. Good luck!!

hi, I have three children, two of which have Autistic Spectrum Disorders, (which also has similar traits to ADHD,) If you think that you are ADHD then you should speak to someone, are you at school? if so maybe speak to your tutor or School nurse first if you feel you can not tell your parents yourself, They will be able to advise, As far as your parents reaction, it is not your fault and there is help for this, There is Medication that can be taken to help control the Hyperactivity, It is confusing for you and you do not need to do it on your own, Good Luck,

Tell them you just want to go see the doctor about something. Depending on how old you are. The doctor doesn't have to share anything with your parents. I have ADHD and have never been treated for it. It sucks, and its nothing to be embaressed about because its nothing you can control. You should definatly get tested if it worries you and I'm sure your parents will support you all the way.

I don,t know your age. How long have you had to do this without professional help? Are your parents opened minded on some issues? It,s hard to not much about anything these days so much is open on any subject. Could you trust a friend for advice that know how your parents would think? Don,t suffer it,s your future and have every right to peace of mind as soon you decide to go on.pat yourself on the back and have guts to know your problem. Is there a God person to turn to? Try other family members who know reaction of your parents.

ADHD is a legitimate medical problem. Nothing to be ashamed of or worried about. Talk to your parents, tell them what you think and see what they have to say. Life will be a lot easier if you get help.

Yes, ADHD is genetic. For the benefit of your stepson you should talk to his psychologist. If it turns out that he needs to be medicated to help with school, then it would be cruel to not give it to him. Not being able to focus at school can be really difficult. He will start to struggle and become frustrated. His self esteem may start to dwindle because he may do poorly at school, not because he isn't intelligent, but because his ADHD is preventing him from staying focused long enough to learn. If your husband can't see this, then you need to confirm it with the psychologist and write out a list of pros and cons.

im 14 n my mom would say im full of ****, but check at a confidential center such as a group heatlh. ud b surprised by how many centers there prolly r in ur area that provide CONFIDENTIAL testing n such, so u can c if u do. if u do, then u talk to ur parents "i hav it, herez the proof...". then i suggest if they say u do have it....RITALIN!!!! but its only available by prescription adn many kids abuse it. it is better if kids don noe that u take this drug, or u may slip into something serious. ritalin is often abused and sold adn is in high demand. jus don ruin urself, k? don get addicted to it either bcuz from wat i hear, this is not a hard feat. sorry, i don mean to sound like im talkin to a child, but it seems that ur a kid right?

First thing you should do is change your diet. Stop drinking and eating foods that are high in caffeine, sugar and preservatives. A lot of times just a change in diet can make a dramatic change in a persons performance. Then you won't get on those dangerous meds.
