Gate agents, and at the ticket counter they are called ticket agents, they typically do both. If the airport only has a few destinations with s specific airline, they all do different jobs, they rotate, they will do ramp work, then the gate, baggage service office, ect. to save money

They are called gate agents. All of those who work in the boarding area are called gate agents. There are a few exceptions with some budget airlines where the flight attendants to the gate work but not the "majors". Hope this helps.

Gate Agent... this is the correct answer... they are trained on working the gate, which is obviously not the ticket counter (even if they have training for that too).
(and I was a Gate Agent, Ticket Agent AND Station Agent)
