its a zagoo ( not sure for the spelling) grey african parrot. and how can i teach him to speak and stop it from making all this annoying noises.

For African greys, DNA sexing is necessary. Vets can surgically sex birds as well , but it is more risky. Google 'Healthgene' and it should give you all the info you need on DNA sexing. It costs less than $25 to have it done.

Greys pick up speech on their own. Just speak to him often, and he should pick certain things up. Some birds are better at it than others. Some birds like to mimic noises rather than voices.

Annoying noises are part of parrot ownership. There are web sites dedicated to modifing abnormal screaming behaviours, but parrots are generally very noisy animals, at least for some part of the day. If don't think you can get used to it, you should seriously consider rehoming the bird.

Most parrots are not dimorphic - meaning that males and females look different. Some species are - cockatiels and budgies have differences. Most other parrots can only be told apart by doing a DNA test.
