its the same thing it was marketed as catsup a couple times i think just to mess with people since it sounds similar to ketchup, so basically its slang

it's actually the same thing, although the confusion of which is first used by the people already taken place back in 1711.

unfortunately as there is a word called KECAP which means sweet soya sauce by the South East Asian people esp in Malaysia and Indonesia, some Asians would mistaken ketchup with kecap.

ketchup (dipping sauce) is normally tomato sauce while kecap is not tomato sauce whatsoever

what i know is that here we call it ketchup and in mexico they call it catsup. That pretty much all i know
