Listen to constructive criticism. It isn't easy to do so, because you think people are being haters (lol) but they're trying to help you sound better to the people actually listening to you.

Usually when you sing, you sound better than you think to your own ears. And there's nothing wrong with that, but you have to learn to use your voice so other people can appreciate it, too.

Become confident by singing loud, but not by yourself. Put up the song loud (whichever you're singing) and then try to hear yourself and the difference of the real singer.
Don't listen to people's opinions or letdowns. They will only make you feel stupid. But don't!

And lastly (it sounds corny, but...) always believe that you can actually sing. Seriously, I sing all the time, and I get compliments, because I never stop and wonder if I sounded good or bad. I keep going and then take criticism later.
Keep your head up high. Lol. That's serious advice, too. It improves your singing, too.

Confidence is not really something to "try" to get .. If you know that you can sing then you will do fine. your singing voice is fine .. && it makes no sense to hold back due to fear of what others will think .. You have to live your life and there is always going to be someone who doesn't like or get what your doing but as long as you are actually putting in the practice and what you then confidence is second nature . Basically it's just feeling what you are doing. When you are singing don't think about yourself focus on living the song in that moment bringing the song to life.

If you already do sing in the shower. It helps. Sing in front of a mirror to yourself and pretend that people are stareing at you. Make sure you are confident.

make sure you know your music, and what you are doing. my going thing is, "sing like no one can hear you". even if you mess up a little, just blow it off and keep going. best practice is getting up in front of your friends and singing. if you're really worried, talk to your choir director, and maybe even sing for her. ask what you need to improve on and how you should do it. confidence takes time, but before you know it you'll be a broadway baby!! good luck, and can't wait to see you name in lights!

Easy. Sing out. Please don't take offense to this, seeing as I have no way of knowing, but if you're a bad singer, sing like you have an awesome voice. If you're a good singer, then what's there to be afraid of? Going off pitch? Everyone does that, especially on really high or low notes. Don't be afraid; if you really like singing, sing out.

practice makes perfect, first sing in front of your stuffed animals and act like they are an actual audience and since they just sit there staring it helps a little, then maybe some family or friends since its not like they would boo you...if you are truly good im sure their comments will build your confidence, then you can try plays or church groups, groups at school, etc
