My German shepherd usually goes out three or four times a day -- early morning, afternoon, after dinner, and once before bedtime. She always has some "business" to do, so I guess about four times would be about right.

Now if you asked HER, I'm sure she'd tell you that a dog should be let out any time they want. Which, in her case, would be about 36 times an hour!

Every dog is different , as is every pup. My own dog, who will be 2 in a couple of weeks, will hold bother her bladder and bowels until the cows come home. Even though she's old enough to eat once a day, I still feed her twice a day because she's not a big eater, and won't eat enough at one meal to hold her for 24 hours.

I'm always telling her that she's weird because she won't poop until a couple of hours after she eats breakfast, and then again, in the afternoon, she does both. When she has her evening dinner, she won't poop ntil the next morning when she wakes up, but she will urinate before she goes to sleep for the night. I've even taken her to the vet because I was worried she wasn't eliminating enough.

She's the perfect dog for someone who works all day because she can hold it for so long but I'm with her all day and I don't work. If I try taking her her more often, she just plays around and does nothing. Go figure ... lol.

There's no one correct answer.

How often a dog needs to go potty each day depends on the age of the dog (young dogs need to go out more often), the amount and frequency of feeding, and the individual dog.

I have a four year old German Shepherd - she goes once, first thing in the morning, to pee and poop. After that, we come back inside, she gets fed, and I go about my day. She goes again mid-afternoon and then again around 9 in he evening. When we go for longer walks, she tends to stop and go additional times, as heavy exercise gets their bowels moving more.

I would say, for a grown dog with no health problems, who is fed once or twice a day, between three and four times would be average to potty. More if you have lots of exercise, a younger dog, or feed more meals during the day.

I would take my dog out 1 time in the morning before work. 1 time when I got home, maybe 1 after dinner, and 1 before bed. So overall maybe about 4 times. Of course if you walk the dog alot more frequently it will tend to go more often.

after he eats he will have to go poopie..so twice a day for that,,and after every nap or afetr hard playing and drinking a lot of water he wil have to go pee. If you have a new puppy it is best and easy if you crate train him.
