try the filling the syringe with the meds and see if she will squeeze it in her mouth alone or giving her a little cup with the cough syrup in it to drink on her own or having her help your prepare the meds

You just have to insist, sorry sweety, but girls are worse about this for some reason, and mommy has to put her foot down or hold little miss princess down and get the meds in the mouth!
We have 3 year old twins... the boy could care less, it took both of use to do the little girl until she realized she wasn't going to win this one. Then it was all over, the faster the better... "Honey take your medicine right now or Mommy is giving it to you. Period." Like ripping off a bandaid.
Some of that stuff does taste really awful. I always had a lollipop ready that she could see and they both got one right after taking the meds, to get the taste out of their mouth.

Oh I can relate to you. I have a now 4 year old daughter. For her entire life every time she was sick or had an ear infection that would require antibiotics I had nothing but problems. I know how you feel. People seem to think that it's any easy process - like just hold them down. Yeah sure, I literally tried everything. I tried holding her down, bribing her, hiding it is food/drinks. Nothing worked, my daughter would literally puke it back up. I was convinced she could make herself puke. I was made to look like the worst mom in the world once when I took her to the hospital with a fever and tried to explain to the nurse that giving her medicine is impossible. The nurse basically made me feel like crap and tried forcing medicine down her throat and holding her nose closed so that she would be forced to swallow. Again, daughter puked it all up (I couldn't have been happier since this nurse thought she knew it all).
Long story short - 2 days ago I found something that worked. Triaminic cough and congestion strips. 1 strip on the tongue and then is dissolves. It's berry flavour and my daughter loved it. She kept begging for more. Only one other time she gave in and took medicine and that was when I put a gigantic cookie on the table and told her she can NOT have it unless she takes her medicine. She looked and me and said, "that's fine." Then I got myself one of the cookies and as bad as I felt I started slowly eating it saying Mmmmm this is so good, you know you can have yours too if you just take the medicine. As soon as I said that she took the medicine and grabbed the cookie as quick as she could. It worked but I did feel bad.
Sorry for how long this is and good luck, I know how you feel!

A lot of pharmacies (Walgreens is a prime example) will put flavor into the medicine for you so that it tastes better. I know when I was little the meds that tasted good were my favorite to take. I know Walgreens will do it for like 3 bucks. And they have a ton of flavors.
You can buy flavor powders over the counter in the kid med isle as well. I'm not sure how much they cost but they seem to help.
Good luck.

I'm pretty sure almost everywhere will not hire you unless you are at least 16. Many places prefer 18 year olds, also. Legally, you cannot without a work permit. And yet, when you look at the statistics of unemployed teenagers looking for a job, there are many. And what company would choose a 14 year old over a 17 year old? Not many. Try doing chores around the house for money. Or cut your neighbors lawn.

MAKE IT FUN!!!!!!! I always take the medicine with my daughter (pretending obviously), and I pretend that the medicine made me super silly and I roll around laughing and making a huge scene. She thinks its absolutely hysterical and wants to try the medicine too so that she can be a goofball right along with mommy. The more distraction there is, the easier the she forgets that shes actually taking medicine.

You are the mom.. sometimes.. we just have to hold them down.. :). When my kids were toddlers.. all I had to do was force it one time.. then I simply explained that this can be over with in a minute, or we can take a long time... they need the medicine. Also, you can buy one of those syringes, let them squirt it in themself, my kids liked to do that. It made them think they were in control of it.. :), like it was their decision. My kids are 18 and 19 now, and they hold no ill memories of their toddler years of my making them take medicine.

My son is like that!!! We got those little medicine holder thingies that have the scoop top and you fill it with the med and then you give it to your child and they take it by themselves thats how I got him to take them by calling him a big boy and saying that is how big boys take their meds

My children both enjoyed being a big girl or big boy and taking it themselves. I would pour the correct amount in the dropper and let them take it themselves ... that always seemed to work. Try it, it is surprising how kids love to feel independent.
