first have a casual conversation with them with like some of these starters:
--sup, hey, umm..wanna chat for a while and eventually give them ur phone #
--make a friend ask for u
--write a note
--or something other that ur most confortable doing, just go with the flow, trust me, I'm in middle too.

Just say that you are going to ( wherever it is you are going to go) and would they like to come along with you.
