Was the water in the lemonade from bottles? I only drank bottled water when I was there. What you describe sounds like bacteria especially when you mentioned that the symptoms didn't show up until a few days later. Food poisoning does that.

Bad water. Consider yourself lucky. A woman across the street drank some lemonade in Mexico and nearly died of hepatitis.

I know some people use urine as a filler for lemonade. Maybe you drank some of that and just got sick. Lesson learned to everyone else - dont drink lemonade in Puerto Vallarte.

you probably just picked up a stomach bug I have been there twice and each time I got sick when I drank something (ice counts) that was not from my hotel.(not filtered water). So next time I will take the bottle water with me that the hotel suggested when you do anything that is not at the hotel.

Have you ever heard the saying "Don't drink the water"? The foreign particles in the water don't bode well in our systems. The lemonade was likely made out of local water (rather than bottled) and if it was not I am sure that the ice cubes in it were made out of local water.

You shouldn't drink the water there or anything that is not canned or bottled. You need to use bottled water to brush your teeth too. You likely got a bacterial infection. I went to Mexico and only used the water to brush my teeth and I was hurling for like 2 days. Not cool man. Not cool.

If you drank any water (except for bottled), that would be your answer. Don't forget not to have ice cubes (as they're made from water) in any foreign country.
