Contact a doc and see about taking Antibuse(spelling is wrong) It will help you get through the roughest times. Also, being able to talk to someone helps, your AA group should be able to offer one on one counsel at anytime of the night or day. Go for your goal of being alcohol free, believe that your life will be so much better without the booze causing you havoc, trust in yourself and love the person you are becoming. Look to your family and friends, the ones that aren't drinking. If you have had to make new friends that are sober, call them, ask them to help you. If you need to talk more write back here, someone will be willing to listen.

Sure, many prefer private counseling to meetings. You can see your doctor, go to a clinic, go to the ER, etc. They may, or may not, give you some meds to help you off the booze--the ones who won't are afraid that you will substitute one addiction for another (the pills). Some doctors will give you only a small amount of pills to get you through those tough first days.

Do you think that you need to go to detox? If so, call up your doctor--he or she can probably arrange that for you. They will medicate you while you are in detox--but will probably not give you any meds when they release you.

Keep going to meetings every day, and don't drink. In addition to that, you could check out a rehab or an IOP (intensive outpatient) program.

If you aren't drinking, then there isn't any faster way to get help. If you are still drinking, no rehab or AA meeting is going to make your recovery "faster."

You could ask your doctor to prescribe something that will make you sick if you try to drink such as Antabuse, or other medications that will help with cravings like Topamax. Going into treatment (inpatient or outpatient) is usually the best way to get help that is lasting as well.
