Nope...Its ok to have a few with your family on special occasions. As long as you dont get behind the wheel after having a few, and don't get so drunk you get arrested.
If your family has a problem with alcohol, you may want to consider this as a precaution before you start drinking. You are old enough to make decisions now, and just because your family drinks, doesn't mean its the best thing for you..

It could be bad if you get comfortable with drinking and make it a daily ritual.
Doing the act its self is not going to destroy you, however beer can waste a lot of your time that you will never get back if you get too seriously.
The way to tell if you have a problem is this: if you are able to say no when it is offered then you have it under control. If you only drink once or twice a year with your cousins, then it might be that is the only time you have access to alcohol, if your friends had it all the time and you could still keep you consumption at a minimal level, then you would have legendary will power. Perhaps you do, I do not know.
What I do know is that partying is a slippery slope that can destroy your life if you let it get out of control
However getting drunk once or twice will not ruin you as a person. Just keep it all under control

IF you've never gotten drunk. IF you never have hidden how much you've had to drink. IF you never have enough to impair your judgment. IF you're telling the truth about the infrequency of your drinking.
Then I wouldn't say it was 'bad'. HOWEVER, I would not condone or encourage this behavior.
If you've ever gotten drunk (or even tipsy) or if you're only doing it to fit in with your family, then I would say don't do it. There's no harm in the occasional glass of wine or beer (which should be once or twice a year at a special occasion in your case), but you really should not be downing a six pack at a go (that would be 'bad'). There's absolutely nothing wrong with grabbing a soda while your family (or friends) drink. If they are pressuring you into drinking then that would be a 'bad' reason to drink (and I would doubly encourage you to grab a soda). Drinking doesn't make you look any more grown up.
Remember kid, there's a time and a place for everything, and it's called 'college' :)
Hope this helps

Are you kidden me, I'm 17 and I get wasted every friday night. Don't listen to all those myths the adults saying about drinking, explore your own opinion. Yes I have thrown up, and done stupid things; but in the end it's all worth it. Drinking once or twice a year is ok, its even ok if you get wasted once or twice a year. But make sure you drink light alcoholic drinks like wine or beer, because it is usually the hard alcohol that causes all the problems. I'm on the football, soccer, and basketball team. Drinking does not make things worse for me, but a lot better. I'm always in perfect condition. However, your individual experience may vary.

There are many countries in the world that have no minimum drinking age. From a moral perspective, drinking is a deeply ingrained part of many cultures -- some cultures encourage it, while others discourage it. Ironically, in countries where there is a very low, or no minimum drinking age, alcohol abuse is less of a problem because it's not taboo or exciting to drink.
As long as you exercise moderation, there is little physical harm in drinking (depending on the type of alcohol you consume.)
In fact, some scientific studies have shown that moderate amounts of red wine may be good for your health.

You are too young. This is how bad it is. My ex-boyfriend started at 15 as well, by the time he was 21 his body was all screwed up. Plus, he was cute, but had this nasty beer gut. I couldn't do it anymore. The physical shouldn't matter but it does when you know that person has chosen to be that way.

It's your body, your life, your decisions, no matter what age you are. Make up your own mind and you'll be a better person in the end just so long as you don't make the same mistake(s) twice!
