Right now I'm thinking of doing I'm Not that Girl -Wicked

but I need some more options.

My voice range is 2nd Soprano - Alto.

Some of my past roles have been Polly in Crazy For You and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast.

i dreamed a dream from les mis, it would fit your range, and can be altered for your time limits. also, it is very good to show off acting abilites! good luck and i hope you get a good part!!

I'm also an alto (and a professional singer), and I remember having to audition for school plays and musicals. ~__^ Definitely go with your strengths and what you know well and are comfortable singing (in terms of memory and vocal range). My favorite audition pieces were always "On My Own" from Les Miserables, "Home" from Beauty & The Beast (the musical, not the movie), and "Now That I've Seen Her" from Miss Saigon. If you're not a belter (powerful and loud) though, then I'd go for something softer -- do a piece from one of your past roles!

Kill everyone who told you to sing from wicked. That is right now the big audition show everywhere. Do not sing anything from Wicked, Les Mis, Phantom, Cats, Rent, Dreamgirls, none of the big shows... This will destroy every chance you have of getting that role, because you will automatically be compared to the originator of the sing. Idina MenZel, for one... If you sing Defying Gravity, you will be instantly compared,

My suggestions to you are to sing one of the following pieces,

I'd give my life for you- MissSaigon
Home- Beuaty and the Beast
I don't know how to love him- JCSS
Green finch and linnet bird-Sweeny Todd (high, but will be great if you can get it)
Your daddys son- Ragtime(This will make them cry)

If you feel comfortable, sing from the show itself, Forum isn't a show with a really strong female lead, but there are some choices...

You have many options, but here is a list of songs that you do NOT want to do, mostly because they are overdone or many other people will be using them:

-Anything from Phantom of the Opera, especially "music of the night" and "think of me"

-"Somewhere over the rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz

-Anything from the "It" musical on Broadway (right now this would be Wicked)

-"On My Own" from Les Miserables

-"Seasons of love" from Rent

-"I'm Gonna wash that man right out of my hair" from South Pacific

-"Memory" from Cats

-"Tomorrow" and "Maybe" from Annie

This is not to say that they are not good songs, but they are not ideal for a vocal audition

You can try "Everything's coming up roses" from Gypsy, "A ******** Optimist" from South Pacific, or "Mama Will Provide" from Once on this island which are all very good songs and are not heard as often at auditions. I hope this helped.

hear on your heart. . . close your eyes photograph your self making a music a music sense the music and then flow forward. which each music you sing its your voice that concerns the main no longer the music. How bout thank you for loving me via Bon Jovi because of the fact interior the music like those the voice is composed of greater advantageous place and once you flow intense human beings promptly tend to hearken to you. anyhow each and all the final.

"I'm Not that Girl" from Wicked gets really low even for an alto, and it gets kind of redundant.

If you want to do a song from Wicked try:
- "The Wizard and I" - it focuses on vocal range
- "No Good Deed" - it focuses on different dynamics and the transitions between them

Songs from wicked are good because it is new and not everybody will have heard them. But do not do anything from Les Mis because they are over done! "Someone like You" from Jekyll and Hyde is lovely and would suit your range well. "For Good" from wicked is also nice. Good Luck
