Exactly how do you "beliv" in someone?

Do you have any idea how many time this question has been asked? The answer is this - why do they have to? There is no evidence to support God, that Christianity is truth, or that Christ is the only way. They could ask you the same question - how CAN you believe in a God without proof?

Asking that kind of question is moot. People either believe or they don't based on personal experience (or brainwashing as the case may be) and there really is nothing you can do to change that. If they're going to come to your God - they have to do it on their own.

You may also find it interesting that a good number of Atheists were Christian at some point. So it's not like they didn't try it before they rejected it. They've been there and done that. It didn't work for them. Let it go.

When I was 18 my own father "harassed" me into believing. I rejected him with every fiber of my being. It wasn't until I was 25 and had my own child that I realized that there was more to life than me.

People cannot be forced into accepting Jesus Christ as their savior. They have to be open to readings and teaching. They need to be counseled by someone who is well educated on the Bible and knows how to intelligently interpret it without bias.

By asking these types of attacking questions we do nothing but push people away from Him. This is not the forum for evangelizing, especially not in that manner. If you are trying to get people's attention about The Word and trying to draw them closer to God and Jesus, this is not the way to go about it.

I understand that it can be frustrating. We all want everyone to know about His grace and love.

Because there is no logic behind the assertion that Christ is the only way. If you believe in God, that's great, and I'm sure it's right for you but that doesn't make it the right belief for everyone. Religion is interesting and I like to learn as much as I can about all religions. I just don't like having other peoples' beliefs shoved down my throat.

I'm not an atheist, but fervent Christians, why can't you just leave the poor atheists alone?

Click on over to the Politics section and check out the action there between the Republicans/conservatives and the Democrats/liberals.

Bear any resemblance to the action in this room?

Ya think, eh?

Put down your Bible for a moment.

Take a deep breath.

Put your arm around the atheist and give him a hug.

He might offer you a beer.

Ask him for an n/a and just hang in peace with him for a while.

Can you do that?

Jesus is nice, but everyone can't get down with all that.

Love them, anyway.

Jesus would want you to.

Wow.
Well for starters... Why is it that so many so-called Christians posting to this forum only recognize the existence of two worldviews: "Christianity" (which is actually a broad spectrum of beliefs, albeit variants on the same theme), and Atheism (which you seem to understand poorly).
Did you forget about those who practice the other world religions? Or are they all just atheists in your book? Or do they just not count?
And what about us agnostics? We are sorely unattended.

So - open up your mind and learn a thing or two about the world around you. There are more than two ways of perceiving the world - perhaps that in itself should answer your question.

Why do you belive in god? Why do you accept God to be the only truth? How can you belive in a God? These questions should answer your question.

the same way you don't believe in Thor, or Zeus, or Pomona, or any of the other 1,000s of gods - we just take it one god further and include the Christian god.

Also, I've never understood how believing in an imaginary god can be something to be admired. It's far more difficult to be an atheist - it takes a lot more study, thinking, pondering and courage. Whereas being one of millions of drones in lock-step with a mass delusion is easy.

Mrs. B's logic is as classic Christian as you can get - the stupidity is dumbfounding.

Well, i think the whole point of atheists not believing is their doctrine, or lack of one. Their belief is the same as your belief, a very personal way of thinking.
This is like saying, non-muslims, why can't you just believe Mohammad, or vegetarians, why don't you just eat meat?
Do you know any atheists, and if so do you know why they think the way they do?
Sometimes, and i believ this to be especially true with religion, there is no black and white. once again, it is personal, and certainly not meant to offend you.

1) what impact does it have on you if we do or don't?
2) how can you possibly believe there is god?
3) and please clarify...only way for what? a lifestyle? a learning process? an outcome or end point?

god is a mythical creation designed to pacify those too impatient to allow the scientific process to unfold. that scientific process, i believe will unravel the detail of interaction and balance of energies - not a sole entity involved in determining outcomes, rather a natural balancing of opposite forces. simply, i'm far too intelligent to believe that i'm a puppet on a string, blown in the wind by the control of hand unrelated to my own flesh.
