"momwithab" sounds very much like she's working with Cummins to know in such (accurate) detail. I worked there a long time ago, when they were known as Cummins Engine Co. and J Irwin Miller was the Chairman at the time. It's one of the biggest diesel engine manufacturer, indeed.

first of all what year is it? they had a lot of transfer pump and injector pumps on the old body style (01,02, 03) if its older than that they was a wiring problem for the trans, there was also an update to the controller for what is called gear-hunting where the torque converter isnt locking up as its supposed too. also the air filter on the diesel can get sooo dirty it quits drawing air and sucks itself down into the turbo. so first decide if its the engine or the trans, then take it to the dealer because they are the ones qualified to work on this truck( or a certified diesel tech)
