She is female and around 17 years old (human years). She will just bend over and spray a liquid. I thought this was a male thing? She is also fixed (spayed), and there is three other female cats in our home besides her. I think it might be urine. Do cats sometimes urinate that way? Also, my son has claimed he saw one of the other cats do the same. (They are all spayed!)

I don't know much, but I've never heard of this before. If you think it's serious, then I would definetly take her to the vet. Yes, do take her to the vet. I think that would be a very good idea.

It sounds to me like your 17 year old female has become territorial with her housemates. All cats, even spayed female cats and neutered male cats can spray. The liquid you refer to is definitely urine. The vaginal opening in a female cat is right below the anus so that may be why you thought it was coming out of her butt.

When a cat begins to spray suddenly it is usually caused by stress. The stress may be the result of some threat (either real or perceived) to your cat's territory. The could be a new baby, a new pet, a new home, or even an outside intruder cat who has made his/her presence known to the spraying cat. The only way to rectify the problem is to "fix" the cause of the stress or territorial threat as best you can. It's very difficult for a 17 year old cat to adapt easily to a sudden change in her environment. I would do whatever you can to comfort her and make sure your other 2 cats are not terrorizing her. Good luck.

Sure, They are urinating and marking their territory, spayed or not have nothing to do with it. Cats male or female do it from behind. Clean the area or objects with an ammonia solution and exclude the cats from you living area.

Sounds as if she is marking territory. Both male and female cats spray as their way of saying "This is my turf!" Males are more prone to spraying than females, but I caught my lady cat spraying once.

Its generally the male cats which will spray urine to "mark" his territory. All tom cats do this, from lions tigers to little fluffy.woman cats will do this additionally while they are "under pressure" or no longer feeling nicely.there's a twig you need to purchase which will end that habit, its called "stay-Off "via Hartz Mountain" created from citrus oils that each and all and sundry cats HATE. Spray in basic terms the factors that she's utilising or the place you do no longer want her to break like fixtures etc. There 's additionally some good deodorizing spray obtainable that works large.

(my male cat sprays everywere!) :( i been around cats all my life and never heard of female cats spraying i think only male cats are supposed to do that. i think you should talk to the vet about this problem cause it sound kind of strange to me.

they may have urinary infection. Just to be on the safe side take them to the vet. The sooner the better, because your home may turn very nasty.

Good luck =)
