My aunt was driving a her brand new car and suddenly she slammed to a telephone pole. Thank you for the airbag she was saved. But she could not recover from her fear and have not drive a car more than 2 years. She tried therapy and it did not work. Last time I tried to encourage her but she was driving one time 5mps and next time she could not release her foot from the accelerator. It was kind of scary to seat next to her. Now what she have to do. Any feedback is really appreciated

She has 2 choices....drive or not drive. If she chooses to drive she'll need to face her fears and get on with it. If chooses not to drive than she should turn in her license to the DMV and find alternate transportation.
If she's seeing a therapist & it's not helping, then switch therapists.....everyone has different techniques, she needs to find one that works for her. If meds are needed, then she should get them.

i went through this several years ago ,when i got hit head on by a tractor and trailer rig,i really didn't see a need to drive anymore,but i had to my job depended on it,but it is a scary feeling that it might happen again,i think what made me get over it was the fact that i didn't have any choice to drive,id say just give her time,,if she wants to start driving again she will,it may take time though,and the harder you push the farther she,ll stay away from it,give it a little time,and offer to go with her if she wants to drive,this might help.good luck.

Well I am glad you two are all right but just tell her you will drive her where ever she needs to go.
