I play tenor and alto saxophone and I march too. People call me a band geek. I don't know about your school but I think you could. Usually all of the schools have saxophones in their marching band. Even in the collages they have them in it. If you can do concert band you can easly do marching band. Though it is easier if you memorize your music. As far as drill wise you will practice your butt off so you'll learn fast. Hope you do marching band it is alot of fun and a time that you will never forget. That's why I'm out on the field and was at state finals. Don't give up!
( I have two set of parents, My band instructors

It really depends on the policy of your band director. In most cases, alto saxes and sometimes tenor are allowed. The idea of using a bari saxophone is up to your band director. That tends to vary on the size of the low brass section. The soprano sax is hardly ever used, but in some shows is may be featured as a solo instrument. My best advice is to talk to your band director regarding their policy.

Of Course! For the most part, marching band is like a marching concert band (instrumentation)(altough there are some differences, no double reeds). Our small school has alto, tenor and barry.

This depends on how your school's band works. I myself went to a school where it was a drum corps, which consists of only Brass, and Percussion, but most schools have sax's. Ask your band director if they have positions for the sax, and if so, go get em tiger!

without the sax who would provide that jazzy sound. Yes, all types are allowed in marching band. The baritone sax might just get a little heavy
