I bought a Pioneer 111DBK SuperDrive burner some months ago. I restored my computer back to original factory settings and lost the installation/ driver CD that came with it. I cannot burn anything because my computer won't recognize the drive. Where can I go to find any software that will allow my burner to be operable again?

I work on a Apple G4 tower, I just need the driver so my comp can recognize it as a burner)

Sounds like TheHumbleOne has no clue.

Do you remember what burning software it used? Roxio, Nero, Ulead, Gear? You don't need drivers for Atapi devices, but you do need a burning software to actually burn discs, which usually comes with the drive, and if you lost the original CD will usually be charged a nominal fee to replace it. Either Roxio or Nero will work with most drives on the market, and both are usually quick to incorporate new devices and technologies into their burning software pretty quick.

It looks like pioneer is only bundling with Ulead right now, and personally I avoid ulead like the plague, but they do have a 30 day trial of Burn Now, http://www.ulead.com/bn/

Nero also has a 30 day trial if you'd like to give it a whack http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-demo.php

Here's nero esseentials for $5 shipped
http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/main.aspx?p=ItemDetail&item=SWW13452 the difference is that this version only has wizard based burning which is the best for novice users.

What OS are you using? XP has a built in burning feature but you have to have service pack 2 installed to use it. It was actually a "powertoy" for a while, but M$ incorporated it into SP2 if I'm not mistaken. http://dallas.tamu.edu/e-learn/WinXP-CD_Burn.html and something a bit deeper about XP burning http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/bott_03september16.mspx

hope that helps.

If you have XP, it will install itself
If it shows, uninstall it with the device manager and then restart the computer.
BTW the Pioneer 111 is a DVD burner (also does CDs of course)

I respectfully disagree with hartless.

My Samsung burner is powered by Nero, and my Dell burner is powered by Roxio.

You can go online to the manufacturer of your burner. Have the model number handy and look for drivers you can download.

CD Drives don't need drivers of any sort, make sure that it is plugged in correctly.

Is it your burner's driver? or is it that you do not have cd burning software.
