Why is it that so many people claim to be spiritual and believe in God or a "higher power", yet when you ask them about Jesus they freeze up? Don't people know that they have to accept Jesus into their hearts in order to reach God our heavenly Father? Do they understand that Christianity is NOT a religion, it's a relationship?

Josephus, a Jewish historian, mentioned Jesus in his writings toward the end of the first century C.E., roughly 60 years after Jesus' death.
As a non-Christian, Josephus would have no reason to accept the historical reality of Jesus unless there was some sound basis for it.
In one of his works, Josephus discusses disturbances that were caused by the Jews during the time Pontius Pilate was governor of the region of Judea (26-36 C.E,) The disturbance centered around a man named Jesuss and his followers, Josephus identifies Jesus as "a wise man....a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of men who received the truth with pleasure," and he notes that Jesus was later condemned by Pilate to crucifixion. While this mention of Jesu does not suggest that Josephus himself accepted Jesus or the claim made about Jesus by his followers, it does seem clear that Josephus recognized Jesus to be a historical person who had a profound impact on the people he encountered.

Read also about Tacitus, a Roman historian.....Pliny the Younger another Roman source and Suetonius a Roman historian and lawyer.
All these writers prove the historical existence of Jesus......rather than biblical sources.

Christians freeze up because it seems like most find it hard to explain the trinity thing, Jesus is God, no, Jesus is God's son, no, Jesus is both. And it must be a religion because it has ideas similar to other religions...except for the whole burning in hell without Jesus thing.

I don't think Jesus is necessary for anything except being credited for having some good messages, just like other prophets. God is the only one that's necessary.

<<<<<<<<<<< Hello Mrs. B >>>>>>>>>>>>

Just would like to make correction.

Religion specifically pure and true religion is part of Christianity, and its your relationship to God and practices that defines your as vain religion or pure religion as mentioned in James 1:27

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

See, the Bible mentioned "Pure religion", this means that there is realy religion in the Bible for christians and that is "Pure religion".

Despite what you think, A lot of people i know including me have spoke sincerely to Jesus since we were kids. Being a kid too young to have prejudices or too young to question God's existence, I listened for decades. Guess what? He never answered me in any way and my life has been just dandy since I decided that God is man-made thing. Oh, I am a great person with morals also.

I am Not Ashamed of Jesus...And If someone asks me about him I'll tell them all I know..but other people are ashamed to talk about him becuase they don't know him face to face...they haven't excepted him as Jesus living King of Kings..they probably just go to church just fo the heck of it...but it does say in the bible these words, " Who ever will not be ashamed of me, I will not be ashamed of them in front of my father." Think about it... Christianity is a relationship not a religion... I seriously love Jesus and I want to be closer and closer to him in my life..I saw plenty of his miracles on this earth and all the beautiful wonders that he has made...

I'll talk about Jesus all day with you if you want. Of course I don't believe that he was the son of God and I do believe that Christianity twisted his great teachings into more of a hate fest than the loving, peaceful people he wanted us all to be, but I'm certainly not afraid to talk about him.

And sorry to burst your bubble but Christianity is indeed a religion, even if you don't like to call it one.

Why? because Jesus puts huge demands upon the soul that most do not understand and that lack of understanding creates fear and that FEAR makes them afraid to talk!

Sometimes I just can't be bothered to defend my beliefs, look at what people like 'Dr. Brooke' (bet she's not even a real doctor) and 'Chips Anyone?' have said in their answers to your question. Ever heard the phrase, 'I didn't come here to be insulted?' Well, sometimes I feel like just buggering off.
