of going to church, or even caring about religion? it doesn't make a difference to me, i was religious for the first 20 years of my life, but now i don't see a point to it. is there any? i don't think so. god can go do whatever he wants. he probably doesn't even exist.

Maybe you were going thru the motions but not putting you heart into it. God doesn't care about rituals and had plenty to say about the 'religious' people of His day. Maybe God is trying to get real with you.

There's no need for organized religion, those were created by men and are run by men. People are all flawed and bias and God exists without those institutions, so don't worry. I think God just wants us to live a good life and use the common sense he gave us.

one of my Methodist friends said "you catholics are making God so busy by asking not to let it rain on your wedding day or to win the lottery that there are thousands of people starving in Africa he doesnt have time for" is a God that lets so much suffering occur someone who i want to spend eternity with?
In the words of Billy Joel "I'd rather laugh with the sinners then cry with the saints the sinners are much more fun"

A person's relationship with God is between God and himself or herself. I agree with your statement that God can go anywhere he wants. A church is a building.

First of all, "God" never even said you had to go to church. On second thought, he has never said anything.

Most people of religion are just afraid of Hell or ceasing to exist, so they put all their "faith" in a religion so they can be all happy in heaven. They are the true cowards, who fear the truth.

And yes, welcome to the smart club.
