It is the military's (US NAVY) way of calculating body fat on an individual. May not be 100% accurate, but CLOSE. Hope this helps.

The simplest thing you can do is either try to find the info. on the web, which I'm sure that you can, or you can go to your nearest book store and look at a chart there. The practical way to determine what you should weigh is actually by looking at the mirror. It is not what you weigh; it is what you look like. If the mirror says that you are fat and you can pinch an inch, then you are fat. Remember that you cannot spot reduce. Your body gains and loses weight evenly although it may seem that some areas are bigger than others. It is a balanced diet with an active lifestyle that does the trick.

Doubt most doctors can tell you other than doing an estimate. I suspect that some health clubs may have equipment to do it.
