I have a really hard time getting myself to go to the gym because it is boring. My iPod doesn't help. Any other ideas?

SWITCH UP YOUR ROUTINE!!! If you are bored with what you are doing at the gym, change it up. If you do cardio, switch to a machine you don't normally use: treadmill, bicycle, starmaster, eliptical etc. Remember to use the different programs on those machines, sometimes just switching to "hill climb" or "interval" can make a difference. If you are doing muscle work outs, do different parts of the body on different days, again, just so you are not doing the same thing every day.

Also:

Ask if the gym has any classes they offer with membership.

Go do yoga or rock climbing at a different facility than your regular gym once or twice a week so you don't have to work out at the same place all the time.

Bring a friend with you and work out together!

Why dont you get your own exercise equipment and be at the luxury of your own home. I'm better off being at home, but that's me.

You need to find a main reason of why you go to the gym, better yet list 10 reasons why you go to gym, ok maybe 5 :) And look at them when you're not in the mood and hopefully your thoughts can help persuade you to keep going and going.

Give your self a Gold Star on your calendar for each successful workout and reward yourself somehow after seven successful workouts. Try to stay with it for at least a month and then it should be a habit. Form a goal as to what you want to look like in your bikini for summer ... hang up pics. etc. Keep a training diary and stay OFF the scales. Your looks in the mirror are what matter not your weight on the scales.

Have you ever heard the expression time flys when having fun.... If you really wanna lose weight, Try not thinking about your ipod or gimmicks and more about what your doing there. Yes motivational music helps... its just that it wont work trying to distract yourself.

listen to an audio language cd and learn another language as you train! or get a training buddy to help motivate each other, or do take up some classes
