Starting off with new credit is way way better than having bad credit. You should be ok if you have the wages to support your loan. As for countrywide, my first mortgage was with them and I find them pleasant to deal with. I am not with them now cause I got an awesome deal with my credit union. Go check out your local credit union.

Just keep paying cash and you don't need a credit score. If you have a steady income and zero debt, a real mortgage company will give you a loan without a credit score.
