Two guys so far have asked me to go to a dance with them for valentines with them. I've already said no to one of them, simply because they we're gonna use me to get their ex-girlfriend jealous. The other guy asked because he likes me. I really don't enjoy going to dances, but I don't want him to be shy around me if I say no. I know that if I tell him no it will be awkward to be around him. What should I do?

Don't go to a dance with a guy just so he can make his girlfriend jealous. That is a slap in your face as he isn't going to be with you and wanting to go for selfish reasons only. Go with the guy that would appreciate your company but explain to him that you really don't want to go dancing but to enjoy his company but that is of course if you like him. If not, don't go at all as you would only make yourself miserable. You could also suggest to the guy that likes you doing something else that you both may enjoy doing together.

Tell him what you just told us. Let him know that you don't like dances. Ask him if he would rather go to a movie. Or if he really wants to go to the dance tell him that's fine but at least he will realize that you really made an effort to let him know that the problem wasn't him.

Say: "Thank you for asking, but I wasn't planning on going. Dances really aren't my thing. Maybe we could do something else? Like a movie?"

This way, you are letting him know that you aren't turning him down, but only the idea of going to the dance.

Tell him you don't like dances but would enjoy going someplace else with him the same night or make a date with him some other night. That way, if he enjoys dances he can go with someone else but would also know that you're willing to date him.

Why don't you just tell him you don't care for the dances but you wouldn't mind going somewhere else with him. That gives him a chance to be with you. Just not at the dance.

Well, if you like him you can always tell him that you don't really like to go to dances but would like to go with him somewhere else. If you don't like him, then just say no. You can't make everyone happy after all...

Well just be honest, tell him that dances aren't your thing. Maybe you guys can hang out do something else instead.
